Telepathic high school teacher Dorian prepares teen witches for professional casting because going in unprepared is what killed one of his partners. But new state mandates on magical proficiency make it nearly impossible, and Dorian worries he can’t give his students the education they really need. Seeking a distraction from work, Dorian kisses his still-living on-again off-again clairvoyant boyfriend, Milo. Instead of a distraction, Dorian glimpses Milo’s vague vision involving the murder of Caleb—one of Dorian’s new students.

To succeed, Dorian will have to explore the potential of a future with Milo and find closure on their third partner, whose loss looms between them. But meddling with fate to save Caleb inadvertently draws the warlocks near, putting all his students in danger. Dorian will have to risk his life and gamble his second chance with Milo to keep his students alive.

Going into the second semester, all Dorian wants to do is explore his relationship with Milo and prepare his students for the upcoming academy showcase. But Enchanter Evergreen’s fame makes Dorian question his place in Milo’s world. His fear of going public is complicated when he notices a shift in his telepathy that strengthens his bond to Milo in a way it never has before. Dorian finds himself forced to simultaneously navigate his work life and Milo’s enchanter cases.

This amplification in his magic puts a strain on Dorian’s mind, making it difficult to prioritize his students while they struggle to rank into the showcase. Dorian wants to ensure their magics are mastered in time for the event, help them deal with trauma from the warlock incursion last semester, and teach them to handle class bullies this semester. But finding a balance is out of the question when Dorian’s mind is reeled toward dangerous threats lurking in the city.

Demons. Haunting and deadly, they stalk citizens, picking off witches and warlocks alike, while Milo investigates their motives. It’s a terrifying reminder for Dorian about why he wasn’t cut out for life as an industry professional. He lost Finn to demons, and now, just as he’s finally gotten some semblance of his life back, Dorian worries he’ll lose Milo to the same fate.

No longer haunted by the loss of Finn, Dorian’s finally moving forward with his life and finding happiness at Milo’s side. All he wants to do as his students move into their second year at the academy is prepare them for the industry and build a future with Milo.

Unfortunately, a stray piece of magic has sprung to life with plans of his own. This rogue manifestation has access to Dorian’s power and his memories, and he intends on using that knowledge to steal Dorian’s happy ending. Believing himself the superior half of Dorian, he’s done the unspeakable, harboring Finn and the devil that nearly destroyed the city. Now, he’s plotting to bring down the witch who failed to master his magics, failed to save Finn, and failed to embrace Milo while lost in grief.

Dorian’s moving into his final semester with his homeroom coven, doing his best to prepare them for their third-year internships. After the events of last semester—the life lost and the futures altered—Dorian grapples with the role his magic played in that ordeal, and he’s determined to finally master the full extent of his telepathy.

Meanwhile, Milo officially joins the ranks of the Global Guild and works with the most elite witches in the world to track the deadliest threat ever to cross his path. A witch unlike any other. In order for Milo to ensure the happiest ever after that ever aftered, he’ll have to help the Global Guild detain this new danger while preventing former enemies at home from resurfacing.
